Ultra Trail Barcelona Interview

You are organizing the Ultra Trail Barcelona on the 25th of April 2015. Can you tell us where your event is located and how runners are able to travel there easily?

The race takes place in Begues, a small village located very near to Barcelona. For accommodation in the area, the organization of the race offers 3 accommodation possibilities, which are very close to the start area. Are there different distances in your event?

Yes. There are 4 distances: 21 km, 42 km, 69 km and 100 km. The 69 km and 100 km distances are part of the Ultra Cup of Catalonia, a championship of Ultra Trails in Catalonia.

In addition, there is also a children’s race called KIDS.

Tell us something about the history of your event. Why was it created in the first place and how has it changed over the years?

The race was created in order to enjoy the Garraf Mountains and this remains at the heart of the event. This will be the 5th edition of the Ultra Trail Barcelona.

Describe your route a bit. How’s the scenery? Is the route beginner friendly? 

The landscape is rocky and demanding. The sea in the background gives runners energy to keep running and to enjoy the incredible landscape. The combination of sea and mountains is unique and this is why so many runners come to take part.

How many runners do you expect to have in your event?

We will certainly have at least 2 500 runners.

What kind of weather conditions can runners prepare to face in your event?

The weather conditions are Mediterranean and the sun prevails throughout the competition.  Running in this environment is something spectacular!

What else should runners do in the city after/before the race? Any suggestions to newcomers?

We are located in the Barcelona area so there are many different kinds of possibilities. The organization offers thousands of possibilities on our website so that the runners can enjoy a full weekend.

How would you describe your event to people who haven't yet participated in it? What makes your event unique?

It is the queen of running events in Barcelona, where you can practice sports in a spectacular landscape and weather. The route is varied and invites runners to enjoy every single kilometre. In addition, the organization takes care of everything for the runners so that they can run and not have to worry about anything else.
