Leiden Marathon

Nice route - but a little windy ;O)

The route is very nice, through countryside and small villages mostly. The public were great. In between the villages it was at times very windy, and a bit cold. Organisation was generally good, but it would be nice to have a map of the route on the website a bit earlier. Also, it was completely unclear where one had to go in order to start among fellow runners that would maintain a similar pace. I ended up in the back of the pack, and it was extremely congested for the first 11km because of the many half-marathon runners. I'd recommend this run though.

Leiden Marathon

Good, flat run. Fortunately not too hot on the day, but very windy. Was pleased with my time. A very welcoming first marathon for me, and well organised. Everyone spoke English (although not that many English people about, perhaps not surprisingly). Good crowds for the most part, although some quiet stretches on the full marathon route. After party for marathon runners a nice gesture, but a step too far for me. Would thoroughly recommend.

Excellent race, quality organization, tremendous support from the people of Leiden. Looking forward to next time.

EXECELLENT EVENT!

I ran my first 10K last week and I was very happy with the overall organisation of the event. The crews were friendly, the route was beautiful, and the supporters, or the local inhabitants, were very supportive, and could be seen along the whole route. Such a great experience for my very first competitive run and I look forward to participating again next year.
