Welcome to Stockholm and one of the world’s most beautiful capitals. Built on 14 islands around one of Europe’s largest and best-preserved medieval city centres, the Swedish capital is superbly positioned, with stunning and extremely varied scenery in every direction.
The surroundings vary from the woods of the Royal park Djurgården to the streets of a big city. The course passes buildings such as the Royal Palace, the City Hall, the Royal Opera and the Houses of Parliament. The course is one of the most scenic in the world. When passing the Västerbron bridge, the runners will enjoy a fantastic view over a city with buildings ranging in age from the medieval times to the present day. The difference in altitude between the highest and the lowest point of the course is 29 meters. Start just outside the Olympic Stadium and finish inside the beautiful arena. The first lap is 16.6 kilometres, the second lap 25.6 kilometres.

Great event! Lots of people watching along the route. The route is a bit challenging for beginners, but the atmosphere makes Stockholm Marathon one of my favorite events! Also the organizations work well.

Bands and cheering crowds along the route create great atmosphere for the event. Works every time, as well as light beer served in the buffet after the race!

Great event in almost every possible way! The route is great (though it's not very fast) and the arrangements were excellent. Even though there's a huge number of runners, I was able to start running my target pace right after the first 1 or 2 kilometres. I'm sure I'll run the Stockholm Marathon again some year.
