Interview with Toughest Malmö

You are organising Toughest Malmö on the 2nd of May 2015. Can you tell us where your event is located and how runners are able to travel there easily?

Car: The easiest way to get to start is not by car. If you however decide to go by car, it will be pointed out where to park on the map. Please follow these parking instructions, because other places than the ones we have pointed out may not be approved for parking on race day. Enter “T-bryggan” or “Malmö Kallbadhus” on your GPS. Both parking lots are with entrance from Limhamsvägen.

Public transport: Go to Malmö Central Station and then change to bus nr 32 in direction “Malmö Ön”. Get off at “Malmö Potatisåkern” or “Malmö Nordmannagatan”. Then follow the sounds, down to the ocean.

Are there different distances in your event?

The course is always 8 km long.

Tell us something about the history of your event. Why was it created in the first place and how has it changed over the years?

It was created as a fun thing for friends at first, but then we quickly realised how big the interest for this kind of event was. After Malmö we decided to do go big and do it for real.

Describe your route a bit. How’s the scenery?

Epic. Situated on Ribersborg beach with Turning Torso, the urban living quarters of BO01 and the Öresund bridge, just makes this an extremely beautiful area.
Expect sand, water and grass.

How many runners do you expect to have in your event?

5000-6000 runners.

What kind of weather conditions can runners prepare to face in your event?

Last couple of years have been sunny. We expect a sunny spring.

What else should runners do in the city after/before the race? Any suggestions to newcomers?

Malmö is a cultural hub. Enjoy the many restaurants and bars in the city around Möllan or Lilla torg. The art gallery is free for all. Have an ice cream by the beach or Bo01.

How would you describe your event to people who haven't yet participated in it? What makes your event unique?

Toughest offers something for everyone. It´s an obstacle course of 8 km packed with obstacles that challenges your strength, endurance, agility, daredevils and speed. We aim to make this a race that elite athletes compete in and that still offers something for everyone. We want everyone to beat their obstacle and leave Toughest with an experience for life.

Anything else you want to tell about your event?

Sign up and go tough!
