The race office of the 44th International Pyynikki-juoksu is located on the traditional Pyynikki sports field. The available distances are 10 km Pyynikki Run, 10 km Pyynikki Walk, W/M17 5 km and a new addition, 20 km Double Pyynikki. Turre-minimarathon will be run at 10 am.
The route, which runs in the national landscape of the Pyynikki ridge, is incredibe, but also challenging. It is one of the most beautiful races in Finland, but also a race that demands a lot from the runner. The Double Pyynikki is a unique running experience. You could almost call it an extreme run!
The change in race office location will effect the first and last kilometres of the race, but otherwise the route will be the same as before, running along the ridge.
The route starts from the traditional Pyynikki sports field via Aleksanterin kirkkopuisto park to Hämeenpuisto park. From here the route continues toward Pyhäjärvi. Before Eteläpuisto park, the route turns to the traditional route toward Piispantalo. From Piispantalo the route continues along the park road toward Pyynikki Summer Theatre and Rosendahl.
In the Rosendahl area the runners of the W/M17 5 km turn and run back to the finish.
From Rosendahl the runners continue toward Varala and the corner of Tahmela sports field. The most challenging ascent of the route starts from here to the top of the ridge. The route continues on the dirt road around the ridge all the way to the Pyynikki observation tower. From here the runners start a fast descent back to Rosendahl, the Summer Theatre and along the beach road past the miniature golf course to Eteläpuisto park. The route climbs back up to the Pyynikki sports field via Hämeenpuisto and Kirkkopuisto parks. The runners of the Double Pyynikki will continue for another lap. The second lap mainly follows the same route, with a few exceptions.
The Turre-minimarathon will be run on a route that has been set up in the Pyynikki sports field area, using both the track and surrounding area of the field.
At the Pyynikki observation tower (5/15 km) and in the finish area (10/20 km).
The dressing rooms of the sports field will be available in the start area. After the run, the runners will have a possibility to use the shower, sauna and swimming facilities of the renewed Pyynikki swimming hall, Kortelahdenkatu 26 (about 300 metres from the race centre). The runners must present their race number to access the facilities. Bag storage will be available in the spectator building of the sports field.
